12/11/2003 Up to the minute! Sheffield City Council has now got its air quality information available on the web. Create your own graphs and output it to excel. PLEASE NOTE the site is in its infancy so please bear this in mind. Things will get better over the next few weeks and months. As many of the monitoring stations are mobile it advised that you check the station history page first to see when the site started and finish.

05/09/2003 This Website Wins Top Award The UK Air Quality Management journal has voted this website 1st place in the non-local authority section of its annual Air on the Internet survey. The site beat such big names as the US Env Protection Agency, the Met Office and the World Health organisation. Jack Pease, editor of AQM deacribed the site as ..small but perfectly formed, and (it) served the audience perfectly

07/08/2003 Roadside Emissions Checks Start! South Yorkshire sees the start of roadside emissions testing, with formal random testing kicking off in Barnsley on 12th August. Doncaster area will be started on the 13th, with Sheffield on the 14th. Voluntary testing will be undertaken in Rotherham in the car park at Asda on the friday.
A programme of formal roadside checks together with voluntary checks in Asda car parks, summer shows and galas will continue until the end of September 2003. for details visit the syvet website. www.syvet.com

15/07/2003 Multi modal study decision by UK Government A wide range of measures that will impact on travel and transport has been announced by the Government. Included in the package is widening stretches of the M1 and increasing capacity.

23/04/2003 Air Quality Action Plan Final Draft April 2003 The final Draft of the Air Quality Action Plan has been submitted to Sheffield City Council's Cabinet and to the Government (DEFRA) for their approval. TO VIEW OR DOWNLOAD A COPY HIT "ACTION PLAN" ON THE LEFT
23/04/2003 ACTION TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY GETS FUNDING A key action contained in the action plan was to carry out roadside emission testing on all types of road vehicles within the various air quality management areas in south yorkshire. 01/04/2003 STAGE 4 Air Quality Assessment Available A copy of the the Further Review and Assessment of Air Quality (formerly known as Stage 4) for Sheffield is available to download. Stage 4 was carried out to confirm that the conclusions to declare Air Action Zones was justified, and to take account of any new information.
